There were multiple Sony exclusives that were on both PS3 and PS4. So how couldn’t PS3 run any launch, or 2014 PS4 game?

PS3 could play PS4 games?!? Hardly. The other way around though for a while until it was removed.

By your logic they should have never made a new console after the ColecoVision.

There is no indication of this. All indications are that the PS5 will be a brand new architecture. It may be able to play PS4 games at least for a while. But I highly doubt that the PS4 would be able to play PS5 games.

What issues do you see in the future? At most we run into an issue where the new game is so graphically intense that it can not be played on an older Xbox One.

I don’t think it is an actual policy but Microsoft is highly recommending that developers scale their game settings to allow the game to play on the Original Xbox One all the way to the Xbox One X. In the future I can see Microsoft easing up on this.

I can also see a future Xbox to a point where it solidly supports 4K + HDR + 60FPS. Right now the Xbox One X gets a lot closer to that then the PS4 Pro does.

Personally I like the fact that I will be able to continue to play my current Xbox One games without having to rebuy them when the next gen consoles come out. I also like that the games can be easily upgraded to a higher tier without having to rebuy the game.
