Mighty No. 9, the spiritual successor to Capcom’s Megaman franchise, put up on Kickstarter by original creator Keiji Inafune, has had a record breaking run on the crowdfunding website. It’s broken $3 million, which makes it among the top five highest grossing video game Kickstarters ever, and at the very least, the highest grossing Japanese Kickstarter project of all time.
A whole lot of news for the anticipated project was released recently, including a new video, the announcement of a physical disc and an NES styled cartridge (that plugs into the USB port) for sale, and the announcement that the composer of the music in Mega Man 2 would be scoring Mighty No. 9 as well.
The incredible funding for Mighty No. 9 also all but assures versions of the game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Vita, in addition to the previously announced Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U versions.
There’s very little time left, so if you want to pledge support to this project, visit its Kickstarter page and do it now.
