Miyamoto Prefers Working on New Titles Over HD Remakes, Sequels

Which is kind of ironic in retrospect.

We all know of the follow-ups that Nintendo has planned for its franchises, including Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon coming for the Nintendo 3DS, Pikmin 3 arriving on the Wii U and of course, Pokemon X & Y. But they’ve also created a strong buzz with HD remakes as the The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD showcased with its reception.

The question asked by GameSpot of Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto was simple – will older games like Metroid Prime be given the Wii U treatment, just like Wind Waker?

Miyamoto’s response? “Of course I can only talk about the titles we’ve announced publicly. We are thinking about the possibilities around that, but there’s nothing I can share today. I guess I can say from my perspective, I’m more interested in creating new titles.”

Which we couldn’t agree with more. Now, let’s just hope we see some of those new titles sooner rather than later. Though honestly, who doesn’t want the next Mario or Zelda?
