Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate which is scheduled to be released on the Wii U will have region locked servers according to Capcom.
“I’m not thrilled with the servers being split either,” said Capcom’s Yuri Lindbergh on their forums.
“I am definitely aware of the demand and feedback, not only in this thread, but also from threads before finding out these bad news; so be sure that I will pass it along. There is no guarantee this will change though.”
It’s a known fact that Nintendo loves region locking but doing that for multiplayer servers makes no sense because it will just fragment the online userbase. The 3DS version doesn’t feature an online multiplayer mode at all.
The game will be released on 22nd March for the Wii U in Europe and on March 19th for Europe.
