Namco Bandai Opens New Singapore Studio With Ten Former LucasArts Members

Creating new IP for arcades.

Namco Bandai has expanded further into Asia for its game development, opening a new studio in Singapore. Unlike most other studios like EA Shanghai or Ubisoft Singapore though, Namco Bandai’s new Singapore studio will be working on original titles. Their first title will be a new IP which will release on arcade worldwide

Interestingly, some of the team members include former members of LucasArts Singapore, which was shut down in March after Disney bought out the studio and other properties including Star Wars. It then went on to suspend development on all current projects including new Star Wars games and tie up with Electronic Arts to developer several games in the franchise using Frostbite 3. One of those titles was the recently revealed Star Wars: Battlefront, slated for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see what Namco Bandai Singapore comes up with for its new IP and with subsequent projects after.
