New Competitive PlayStation 4 Controller Coming This August

Will MLG give the poor PS4 its due now?

The DualShock 4 is a great controller- it’s amazing, really, at how well it modernizes the classic (and frankly, obsolete) PlayStation dual analog design for the current era of more action oriented games, but apparently, it’s still lacking. Apparently, it’s not good enough to be ‘competitive.’ Because, you see, a new competitive controller for the PlayStation 4 (pictured above) is releasing this August. It’s by Scuf Gaming, and it’s called the 4PS, aimed squarely at the competitive games segment.

It makes sense, really- the DualShock 4 is a great controller, but competitive gamers have roundly rejected it (and by extension, the PlayStation 4), with competitive gaming leagues like MLG opting to make the Xbox One (and Wii U with Gamecube controllers) their official machines for all all sanctioned tournaments and events.

The new competitive controller, then, should make the PlayStation 4 competitive (see what I did there?). It should ensure that just the controller design is not the reason that an otherwise excellent console does not reach a pretty lucrative demographic of video games.
