Slow news week doesn’t prevent us from finding the right next-gen articles for you–our readers. We have some good news as well as some dull news this week, and yes, it is somewhat related to Xbox 360’s successor.
Here are some news related to next-gen:
Blizzard’s Pardo told CVG about next-gen projects are testing dev resources: “We do have a challenge to manage that, particularly in terms of dev studio resources.” The more platforms you have, and the amount of rich content you have to deliver on all the systems you are supporting, clearly puts pressure on decisions made across the studio network, which is something we are battling with.”
Xbox 720 years away, Xbox 360 still awesome says 343 Industries: “But I would actually strongly contest the fact that the Xbox 360 is at the end of its life cycle, this has already been one of the longest generations and there’s a really good reason for it, which is that current consoles are incredibly flexible and still really powerful.
“The reason that Halo 4 looks good is that that machine has an awful lot of untapped power still and it’s going to continue to. I think that looking forward into the future I can see years from now, even after next-gen platforms are out, that you’ll have lower priced versions of the existing consoles happily living side by side and serving really valuable functions.”
PS4 release date speculation : “Yet the Japanese manufacturer recently stated that it will be offering support for the PS3 until 2015, which could push the PS4’s launch back until then.
“Of course it’s feasible that Sony will launch the PS4 and still offer PS3 support, but the fact that it’s just released a new PS3 model shows it’s not done with its current generation by a long way.”
