Nintendo 2DS Price Drops to $99 in North America

The entire world of the 3DS, DS, and DSi, for just $99.

The Nintendo 2DS, the 3D-less entry level budget model of the Nintendo 3DS line, will see its price officially dropped to just $99 come this month end. This will make it the cheapest handheld on the market, as well as the cheapest current generation system, and will also give players access to one of the best libraries on the market for a steal of a price.

The Nintendo 2DS is essentially just a Nintendo 3DS, but without the 3DS; it has all other functionality that the 3DS line has, and has full compatibility with the entirety of the DS, DSi, and 3DS library- meaning newcomers to the ecosystem are in for a hell of a treat.

“The new lower-priced hardware combined with the strong lineup of new games launching this year and arguably the best library of games in this generation makes it a great time to be a Nintendo fan,” Nintendo marketing executive Scott Moffitt said in a statement.

The Nintendo 2DS will come with a copy of Mario Kart 7, the 3DS incarnation of Nintendo’s popular racing game series, bundled.
