They planned to keep the DS around when the 3DS was out, and it was dead by 2013, 2 years after, they also planned to keep GBA around when DS came out, and it was dead by 2006, 2 years after. Next year the 3DS will be dead, all the big selling franchises that supported it will have moved to Switch, starting with the biggest of all of them, Pokemon.
