It outsold it in the US for years and ended up 20million consoles ahead of the ps3 in the us.
I know the ps3 caught up but it took a while. The 360 cost Sony at least 50 million consoles from selling. They went from having the best selling console of all time to the worst selling ps console of all time. The ps3 should’ve outsold the ps2 and kept it’s momentum.
The reason their stock went down was because Sony as a whole seemed doomed everyone panicked and sold off their shares.
At the beginning of the ps3 it was at an all time high but by the end it was at an all time low since 86.
That doesn’t account for inflation.
You’re right though that the game division had less to do with sonys fall than anything else. It’s what saved the company in the end.

It wasn’t that they lied about it that made people upset,it was that they hid it from them. If MS had just been honest and continued to release sales figures like Sony did then it wouldn’t have furthered the bad egg image MS already had going for them. Them shutting up only added more fuel to the fire.

Oh please,the 360 didn’t destroy Sony.The 360 had a 3 year head start due to exclusive content deals and the PS3 being too high.Once MS exclusive deals dropped off and the PS3 dropped in price the last 2 years of PS3’s cycle Sony bounced back. As a matter of fact MS even lost more on manufacturing consoles than Sony. No, what made Sony stock fall was their movie and TV division not their gaming division.

Everything is overhyped these days doesn’t change that They are Masterpieces.

With the exception of the PS4 I’ve had every PS console since the PS1. I know about PS exclusives and they’re way overhyped by fanboys like you.

No before ms jumped in the gaming industry sonys stock was higher.
Things flipped flopped when the 360 single handed destroyed Sony as a company.

The ps4 is destroying the xb1 but it never affected the company as a whole.
The people who jumped ship either came back and rebought their shares at a higher price or missed out on the constant rise of ms stock.
I sold all of my Sony stock when the ps3 was announced. It was at an all time high. I then rebought it later on when it hit rock bottom just in case the ps brand made a come back instead of being sold off.
It did and I’ve made a lot of money from it.

You’re right though Sonys game division is doing really well. Hopefully it keeps it up for a long time.

Panic over fud? Ha, Sony trouncing them wasn’t fud. Oh it had EVERYTHING to do with investors alright,Xbox looked like crap and they were jumping ship with customers right alongside them.. Like I said,embarrassing. Truth.

Microsoft as whole is a software company and Sony is hardware,it has no correlation with each other other than in the game division so Microsoft isn’t “destroying” Sony in the slightest. Like you said it’s not as good as Sony’s. Sure Microsoft’s entire stock will always be higher than Sony’s because they are a software company and with software companies they release new product on a quarterly basis,Sony isn’t going to sell a TV or a PS4 to the same customer every quarter. Nevermind the fact that Microsoft is in everything from your PC to your dog’s internal tracking chip (not really but you get the picture).

Sorry but the masses want it.
Plus it’s just an option.
It’s a great idea, much better than Sonys take at it.
The Playstation Now Streaming game service I will admit it is a good idea,but horrible execution.
