Nintendo Confirms It Will Not Be Debuting New Hardware At E3

Nintendo DID comment on rumors and speculation!

Yesterday, a rumor spread and caught like wildfire that said that Nintendo was planning on debuting new hardware at E3 this year– a puzzling assertion, not just because Nintendo has two currently active, very young platforms on the market (the 3DS and Wii U), but also because Nintendo isn’t even holding a live conference at E3 this year, which you would expect them to, if they had something of that magnitude to talk about.

And it turns out that any misgivings you might have had about this rumor were right on the money- Nintendo today confirmed it has no plans to unveil new hardware of any kind at E3 this year. This clear denial of rumors is a surprising change in policy from a company that historically does not ‘comment on rumors and speculation,’ but it is clear that Nintendo felt the need to make it clear that there would be no new system from it for a while now, especially with it gearing up to launch Mario Kart 8 in just over three weeks.

One can still expect Nintendo’s E3 this year to be great though, especially given the extent to which Nintendo is hyping it up– most likely the company will double down on the Wii U and 3DS and reveal a slew of key titles for both platforms. No matter what it is that they plan to do, however, we’re going to keep you posted, so stay tuned to GamingBolt.
