Nintendo confirms new 3D Mario and Mario Kart for Wii U

Nintendo shitting on haters left, right and centre.

During its Nintendo Direct “conference”, Nintendo confirmed officially that a new 3D Mario platformer and a new Mario Kart game were currently under development for the Wii U.

Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata announced that the new Super Mario title is being developed by EAD Tokyo, the team that created Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the Wii and Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS. It is worth noting that Iwata called it an “action” game, so there might be a few changes to the formula that we probably won’t see coming.

Iwata also confirmed that a Mario Kart title is being developed for the Wii U, following the firm’s tradition of releasing one Mario Kart game for every major system it has ever released.

Iwata also confirmed that both games will be available in playable demo form at E3 this year, so we can probably expect some concrete information for them then, because honestly, we have none of that right now.

It’s good to see that they have been confirmed to be in existence, though.

Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated.
