Nintendo DevKits Prices Leaked – Rumor

Anywhere from $710 to $3800.

One of the biggest trade secrets for a console manufacturer is their licensing and devkits fees that they charge- usually, you keep this kind of a thing secret so the competition does not undercut you and try to provide a better deal to a developer you may be working with, poaching them away.

It’s one of the reasons NDAs exist- but now, Neven Mrgan, game developer at Panic Inc., the studio behind Space Age, The Incident, and Blackbar, has gone ahead and posted a screenshot of Nintendo’s development hardware ordering form on Twitter. The form lists out pricing details for Nintendo development hardware, but the hardware is only listed by its development codenames- so we don’t know what’s what, at any rate. What we do know is that it can cost anything from $700 to almost $4000. Which, all said and done, doesn’t actually sound that bad.

What does sound bad is the violation of NDAs that has occurred here- and Mrgan’s blatant disregard for any consequences that may follow.
