Nintendo Filed Trademark for 1080° Ten Eighty

Could we see a sequel to or re-release of 1080° Snowboarding in the future?

Ahead of its rumoured Nintendo Direct presentation taking place on January 11th, a trademark filed on December 17th 2017 by Nintendo seems to indicate that 1080° Snowboarding is coming back.

Pixelpar pointed out the trademark on Twitter for 1080° Ten Eighty and given how the logo resembles 1080° Snowboarding, we’d say it’s most likely possible. Then again, this could just be a Virtual Console release for the N64 title. Of course, Nintendo could also just be renewing the trademark without actually doing anything with it. It’s not as uncommon as you’d think but maybe the upcoming Direct presentation (if that’s even happening) can shed more light.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed for now. 1080° Snowboarding released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 and was lauded by critics at the time. Many consider the game to be the predecessor to many contemporary snowboarding titles. It would receive a sequel on the Nintendo GameCube with 1080° Avalanche that received generally positive reviews.
