Another report has surfaced regarding the Nintendo NX and this one backs up quite a bit about what we have heard about the Nintendo NX so far. Industry analyst IHS has come forward and said they believe that the NX could be launching later this year but a stand alone portable might be coming in 2016 as well. According to the report by the Wall Street Journal, this handheld device will basically be a successor to the Nintendo 3DS.
Hiroshi Hayase, an analyst from IHS is the one who talked about this particular portable device coming this year. He’s actually just the latest to think that Nintendo will be launching a new portable. Where these reports tend to diverge is whether or not this portable will be something that goes hand in hand with the new console or is entirely a standalone device. IHS added that it doesn’t know what size of display this new portable will have but it is indeed supposed to be a successor to the 3DS, instead of a controller for the NX that has a view screen.
In other words, this device is not going to be a repeat of what the Wii U offers. The company also believes that both the handheld and the console could be coming later this year. There are some who believe that the longer we go without an official reveal of the Nintendo NX, the less chance that could actually happen. Of course, anything is possible and we’ll just have to wait and see what the rest of the spring brings.
