Nintendo Switch and Dragon Quest Top Charts In Japan In Yet Another Strong Weekly Showing

Another strong showing for the Japanese market.

It’s Wednesday, which means we got the latest Media Create sales charts from Japan- and, for the third week running, the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest 11 topped charts, with Nintendo 3DS exclusive The Snack World coming in at second place with a strong debut. The PS4 version of Dragon Quest 11Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe rounded out the top five- with the latter game, along with ARMS and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild getting sales bumps this week as well.

On the hardware front, the Nintendo Switch topped charts again, with almost 88,000 units sold; second place also went to Nintendo, with the Nintendo 3DS selling almost 46,000 units, and the PS4 came in with a very strong third place showing of almost 42,500 units sold.

The sales should continue to remain high for the foreseeable future- the Switch remains in high demand, Splatoon and Dragon Quest are unlikely to due out any time soon, and the release of several high profile games, such as Monster Hunter XX on Switch and Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon should keep the markets stimulated for the rest of the year. It will be exciting to see.
