Nintendo Switch Continues Its Reign At The Top Of The Charts In Japan This Week

Switch outsells all other systems put together.

Media Create’s newest numbers for Japanese video game hardware and software sales are now out, and the status quo has been slightly disrupted- where Monster Hunter XX had been consistently topping sales charts over the last few weeks, it has been usurped from its position at last by newcomer Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of ValentiaMonster Hunter has fallen to fifth place, as other newcomers, including Pro Baseball Famista Climax, Dark Souls 3: The Fire Fades Edition, and Dungeon Travelers 2-2 have all taken the next few spots.

On the hardware end, the Switch’s iron grip over the charts continues- with 48,700 units sold, it has outsold all other systems on the market put together. The 3DS came in second, holding steady at 22,600 units, while the PS4 is now in free fall, with less than 20,000 units sold in Japan last week.

The charts for this week should be interesting- this is the week that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launches. I wonder how that goes down…
