Nintendo Switch Could See Shortages During Holiday Season

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime says the company is "focused" on having enough.

The Nintendo Switch has been doing extremely well since the console launched worldwide in March, selling 4.7 million units worldwide as of June 30th. It has a number of excellent games coming up this Holiday season but if you thought it was difficult to find one now, then the coming months could be tougher.

Speaking at Variety event recently, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was unable to say whether there would be enough consoles available during the Holiday season. However, the company will hit 10 million units shipped by this fiscal year with Fils-Aime noting that the demand was “certainly” there.

Currently the goal is whether there will be enough units. “Are we going to have enough for the holiday? That’s what we are focused on.”

Super Mario Odyssey will be coming in October and is one of the biggest exclusives for the hybrid console this year. It will be followed by Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in Holiday 2017, not to mention current games like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pokken Tournament DX, ARMS and so on.
