Nintendo Switch Firmware Update 2.1.0 Released, Enhances System Stability

It begins

Nintendo has released a new firmware update for the Switch – 2.1.0 – but this isn’t a major update adding any substantial new features, or fixing any of the major OS deficiencies. As a matter of fact, it seems to do absolutely nothing as of right now. Nintendo’s support page says that it enhances system stability- which is usually corporate euphemism for ‘exploits that could have led to the system being hacked are patched out’- but that doesn’t seem to be the case this time, either.

So what we have is an update that really does absolutely nothing. Well, except for making the Switch more stable. Pretty soon, we won’t need that kickstand to make the Switch stay upright in tabletop mode.

In all seriousness, while the system should download the update itself, if you want to manually initiate it, you can go into Settings to do so. It should take only a few seconds to download and install it- Nintendo really has come far from the 3DS and Wii U days.
