Nintendo Switch Is One Big Handheld, According To These Calculated Dimensions

That's some dedication to calculating the device's size...

While Nintendo themselves haven’t actually said a whole lot about their new Switch system, some enterprising people are still trying to find out everything that they can about the new system with this three minute video that revealed the system yesterday.

That’s what DualShockers did yesterday- they took the video, and estimated the system’s dimensions by comparing it with some other things in the video whose measurements we conclusively know. By comparing the dimensions of the Switch with the Nintendo Amiibos that were in the video next to it, as well as with some pixel counting, the final dimensions for the Switch that were measured were 10.234 cm (4.029 inches) tall  for the body/screen, and 16.746 cm (6.593 inches) wide. The same width should apply to the base; meanwhile, the Joycons should each be roughly 3.176 cm (1.251 inches) wide.

These are a bit approximate, but they seem to be reasonable enough. If these are right, it’s clear that the Switch will make for one honkin’ big portable.
