The one thing that has always plagued Nintendo launches over the last two year or so has been a case of chronic understocking- we saw this happen with Amiibos, the New Nintendo 3DS XL, the Fire Emblem Fates special edition, the NES Classic Mini, and the New Nintendo 3DS last Black Friday, when it was available for just $99.
Apparently, that will not be changing with the Nintendo Switch, either. According to GoNintendo (via NeoGAF), an insider source has suggested that getting a Nintendo Switch at launch may be very difficult- because Nintendo will not be shipping too many units at all, to most GameStop stores.
It is safe to presume this will be the case with Nintendo and all retailers, including Best Buy, Toys R Us, Amazon, and Walmart; in which case, if you do want a Switch for yourself, you may be best served by reserving one for yourself as soon as you get the chance after Nintendo announces launch pricing and details later this week. Otherwise, who knows when you might have the chance to pick one up for yourself.
