Nintendo Switch Online Membership Details and Pricing Revealed

Launches in 2018.

Nintendo has finally announced its online fees and features for Switch users today and confirmed that online play would be free until some time in 2018. Earlier, the company said it would be free until Fall 2017.

The pricing for an online membership on Switch will be $4 for one month, $8 for three months and $20 for 12 months. Compared to Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus which each charge $60 per year, that’s not a bad deal. It goes live in 2018.

Nintendo noted that memberships will be required for playing online (after that point in 2018 of course), online lobbies, voice chat via a smartphone app (which will be available in a limited fashion this Summer) and eShop deals. Those who don’t have a membership can still share images on social media, access the eShop and register friends.

Furthermore, subscribers can download classic games like Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Balloon Fight from its “Classic Game Selection”. Unfortunately, it seems the company is sticking to these free titles being available for only one month.
