Nintendo Switch Production Will Ramp Up For Holiday Period

Nintendo "doing everything we can" to allow everyone to purchase a Switch.

The Nintendo Switch has been an incredible success for Nintendo since launching in March, selling 4.7 million units worldwide as of June 30th. It’s also incredibly hard to find – most retailers are sold out of their stock and any new supply is usually gone immediately. With the Holiday season around the corner and several major titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the way, that’s fairly concerning for those who may want to buy a Switch.

Nintendo has addressed the stock issue and noted that it will increase production for the Holiday season. It stated to The Wall Street Journal that, “We’re doing everything we can to make sure everyone who wants to buy a Nintendo Switch system can do so. We will ramp up production for the holiday period, which has been factored into our forecast.”

The original plan was to ship 10 million units by the end of the current fiscal year but supply chain sources told WSJ that it was looking to produce some 18 million units instead. The supply chain also noted that it would be increasing the overall pace of production if required.

In terms of releases, Switch fans will have Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle on August 29th; Pokken Tournament DX on September 22nd; Super Mario Odyssey on October 27th; and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 near 2017 end.
