Nintendo has released its earnings report for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023, covering the three months ending on June 30th, 2022. It revealed that the Nintendo Switch had sold 111.08 million units worldwide by this date. The console was last reported to have sold 107.65 million units as of March 31st, 2022.
Throughout the quarter, 3.34 million Switch consoles and 41.41 million software were sold. Hardware sales declined 22.9 percent year on year due to semiconductor shortages affecting production. Demand is still stable in all regions with the console currently being in its sixth year of release.
Procurement of components is expected to improve from late Summer towards Autumn which the company says should provide a “clearer outlook regarding production for the remaining calendar year.” “In preparation for the holiday season, we will leverage appropriate means of shipment, and work to deliver as many Nintendo Switch systems as possible to consumers in every region.”
No changes have been made to the company’s consolidated financial forecast for the fiscal year 2023, which predicts 21 million Switch consoles sold by March 31st, 2023. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
