In its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025, ending September 30th, 2024, Nintendo announced that Switch lifetime sales reached 146.04 million units. During this period, it sold 2.62 million consoles, up from 143.42 million in the previous quarter.
Despite the impressive milestone, hardware sales for the fiscal year thus far are down 31 percent year-on-year. Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite sales are up 0.7 percent and 7.5 percent. However, sales of the Switch (OLED) are down 46.8 percent. Software sales during the quarter reached 39.64 million units, though the overall year-to-date figure is down 27.6 percent year-over-year.
Nintendo has adjusted its forecast for the rest of the fiscal year, expecting the Switch to sell 12.5 million units and 160 million software, a reduction of one million and five million. Of course, it still has the Nintendo Switch successor in the pipeline, with a reveal scheduled for sometime by March 31st, 2025.
