Nintendo Switch Sells 906,000 Units in US for March

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sells over 1.3 million.

Nintendo has announced (via information from the NPD Group) that the Switch sold 906,000 units in the United States for March. The company has proclaimed the Switch as “one of the fastest-selling video game systems of all time,” especially in what is “a nontraditional month for a console launch.”

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild managed to sell more than 1.3 million copies – 925,000 units on Switch and 460,000 units on Wii U. As for the excess game units on Switch compared to consoles sold, it was said that this “may be attributed to people who purchased both a limited edition of the game to collect and a second version to play.”

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime noted that, “Nintendo always strives to offer consumers something fun, new and different. With its various play modes and the innovative features of the Joy-Con controllers, Nintendo Switch provides unique experiences that people can take with them anywhere and share with anyone.”

More information about worldwide Switch sales has been promised for Nintendo’s fiscal year earnings report on April 27th so stay tuned.
