Let’s start with the context, first- apparently, print publications with long lead times already have all the information and details on the Nintendo Switch’s launch, including its pricing, and exact launch date. Nintendo insider Laura Kate Dale has recently noted that the information may even be leaked ahead of next week’s January 12/13 event by one of these publications.
And that, apparently, is exactly what has happened. A Nintendo fan on Twitter is pointing out that Metro, a UK publication, has apparently already leaked the Switch’s release date and price- the system will be launching on March 17, and it will be just £245, which is an excellently low price for it. Pricing details for the rest of the world aren’t know, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume a price of $250-$300 in North America, and ¥25,000 to ¥30,000 in Japan, with launch dates being in the same region as the UK’s March 17 launch date.
Laura Kate Dale, on her part, is sticking to there being a £200 price for the Switch, which seems to indicate that a cheaper model may also be made available. If so, and regardless, it looks like Nintendo has the pricing for the Switch down this time, and that they will be avoiding the pricing errors they made with the 3DS and Wii U.
