Nintendo Switch Tops Charts By A Monstrous Amount In Japan In Latest Media Create Report

And the Holidays are just getting started!

There is literally no stopping the Nintendo Switch train at this point; in the newest Media Create report, covering last week, the Nintendo Switch emerged as the undisputed champion, having sold 145,200 units in one week- a week without any major releases, which is more than two times all the other hardware put together. It’s incredible.

Nintendo also took the second spot on the hardware charts, with the 3DS having sold 34,000 units; the PS4 rounds off the top three with almost 27,000 units sold. On the software front, Pokemon remained at the top with almost 169,000 units sold, while Super Mario Odyssey remained in a strong second place. Meanwhile, Hatsune Miku‘s PS4 and Vita versions took the next two spots, while perennial Nintendo evergreen games, such as Animal Crossing New Leaf, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, Pokken Tournament DX, and, of course, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, all saw their sales increase week-on-week as well.

Of course, the Holiday season has only just begun- presuming Nintendo manages to keep Japan properly stocked, it will be very interesting to see how the Switch ends up performing there over the next few weeks….
