Nintendo Switch Tops Charts in Japan Again as PS4 Plummets

Things are slowing down in Japan.

It’s Wednesday again, which means we have the weekly Media Create charts for hardware and software sales in Japan out again. And, as always, the Nintendo Switch has topped charts on the hardware side of things, selling a little over 36,000 units. The PS4 came in second, with less than 11,000 units sold, painting a dire picture for a console that was supposed to have a second wind in the country after the launch of Monster Hunter World.

Speaking of Monster Hunter World, that game continues to do well, holding on to the 16th place in the charts. It’s not the only leggy game on there either, with Splatoon 2, Kirby: Star Allies, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, and Detective Pikachu all holding steady.

The next week’s charts should prove to be a bit more exciting, because they will cover the launch of Nintendo Labo.
