Nintendo Switch Tops Charts In Japan Yet Again In New Media Create Report

Yakuza Kiwami 2 tops software charts, meanwhile.

The Nintendo Switch continues its utter domination at the top of the Japanese sales chart. According to Media Create, the Switch ended up at the top of the charts yet again, with 165,000 units sold- yet again, more than every other console and handheld sold in Japan put together.

The PS4 managed to come in second place with 85,000 units sold, but this is actually disappointing performance- not only did it have a major new release this week with Yakuza Kiwami 2, but it also had the Monster Hunter World exclusive bundle, which should have pushed sales up somewhat more than they managed to do. The 3DS rounded out the top three with 45,000 units.

On the software front, Yakuza Kiwami 2 topped charts, with Earth Defense Force 5 in second place. Super Mario Odyssey was in third place, and is now in kissing distance of a million units sold in Japan alone.

How the holiday season plays out in Japan will be interesting to see in the coming weeks.
