Nintendo Switch Tops The Charts For Yet Another Week in Japan

Splatoon 2 tops software charts.

Wednesday means it’s Media Create time, which, in turn means we now know what video game hardware and software sales were like in Japan last week. Surprising absolutely no one, the Nintendo Switch ended up selling the most of any console, with slightly over 48,000 units sold- almost double that of the second place finisher, the PS4, which sold 25,138 units. The 3DS rounded out the top three with 7,000 units sold.

On the software front, Splatoon 2 topped charts, while Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Kirby: Star Allies all managed to leg it out as well. Sadly, Sushi Strikers, which launched last week, is already scraping the bottom of the barrel, and the PS4 debut of Super Bomberman R didn’t do too hotly either. Dark Souls Remastered and Detroit: Become Human, on the other hand, continue to do well, with the latter being an exceptional success story in Japan.

Let’s see what Japanese sales look like next week.
