If you thought Netflix and YouTube not being available for the Nintendo Switch at launch was a bad thing, then there’s more bad news. The company has confirmed that Virtual Console, Nintendo’s means of enabling play for retro titles on its consoles and 3DS, will not be launching with the Switch.
In a statement to GameSpot, Nintendo simply said, “Virtual Console games will not be available on Nintendo Switch at launch. We will share more information in the future.”
Like the aforementioned streaming services, this doesn’t mean that Virtual Console will never come to the Switch. It’s likely they’ll be released later but when that will happen is anyone’s guess.
How this will affect the company’s online service, which will provide a free NES or SNES game with online play for a month remains to be seen. What are your thoughts on Virtual Console being delayed? Let us know below.
