Nintendo Working On Multiple New IPs For The Nintendo Switch

More games like Splatoon and ARMS, please.

The idea that Nintendo doesn’t work on new IPs hasn’t held any cachet for a few years now- in the last few years, Nintendo has released some pretty high end new franchises, including Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower, The Wonderful 101, Splatoon, and the upcoming ARMS.

But this won’t apparently be a one off, either- apparently, the company is planning on continuing to work on multiple new IPs for the just released Switch, as well as multiple unconventional games. In an interview with Japanese outlet (via Nintendo Everything), Nintendo’s Shinya Takahashi confirmed that the company is currently at work on multiple new IPs, as well as many unconventional titles. He also expressed a desire to work on software that would exhibit the Switch’s unique Joycon controllers a bit more.

Finally, he emphasized the importance of smaller, indie games for Nintendo, such as Snipperclips– all of this may serve to demonstrate just where Nintendo is planning on going with the games output for the Switch. And if so, then coupled with the kinds of fresh takes on long running franchises that they launched the Switch with, they should have an enviable lineup for their new system going forward.
