Nintendo’s Head of Third Party and Indie Relations Leaving Company in January

Whoever follows in his footsteps has some massive shoes to fill.

One of the most underrated people at Nintendo is Damon Baker, who has been head of their third party relations for the last few years, and has led the resurgence of third parties and indie games on the Switch. It is thanks to his efforts that the Switch has become the home for indie games, and the platform that they find so much success on. It is also thanks to him that the Switch’s third party situation is so much better than previous Nintendo consoles.

However, now, he will be leaving Nintendo. Baker announced on Twitter today that he is moving on from the company starting January 2019, also promising that he has an exciting new venture that we will hear about soon. It seems like he is leaving Nintendo on good terms, at the very least.

Nonetheless, whoever has to succeed him has some big shoes to fill—hopefully, this change in personnel does not derail the third party and indie game success the Switch has been experiencing.
