We will need to wait and see if the bandwidth and latency issues are reduced enough to make real high end gaming possible. When and if that happens it won't matter what hardware you own. Everyone knows that both MS and Sony make nothing on the hardware. It will all be about the software.
Xbox One has the current graphics king in RYSE and the X1 GPU was designed around DX12 so we will see the real X1 power when devs get the DX12 dev kits. Games like Quantum Break and Halo 5 will be graphics show stoppers for sure.

Yes the performance gap should close somewhat, not totally but better than launch multiplats.

In reply to <a href="https://gamingbolt.com/oddworld-dev-says-performance-gap-between-xbox-one-and-ps4-will-only-decrease-with-time#comment-221834">Xtreme Derp</a>.

I agree with your mostly Derp. I have a feeling with the new SDK the Xbox will close the gap for the most part. Games will come out at 1080p with good framerates on the Xbox 1. You are right that for raw computing power the PS4 has the edge, but as everyone knows raw computing power does not always yield superior performance. The coming of DirectX 12 in 2015 will also help Xbox 1 narrow if not close the gap.

What someone needs to address is the long term. If Gaikai and Microsoft's inevitable competitor become truly capable, the need for powerful hardware in your home will be less and less necessary. We will need to wait and see if the bandwidth and latency issues are reduced enough to make real high end gaming possible. When and if that happens it won't matter what hardware you own. Everyone knows that both MS and Sony make nothing on the hardware. It will all be about the software. I will be playing The Last of Us 4 on my Xbox 1 and you will be playing Halo 7 on your PS4. :)

Also, check out this in depth interview which might shed some light on the design decisions behind the Xbox 1.
