The future of Oddworld will be dependent on just how well Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty does according to creator Lorne Lanning. Speaking to Eurogamer at GDC 2014, Lanning revealed that the studio requires 250,000 copies of the game to be sold.
However, if the game manages to sell 500,000 units, there could be a new Oddworld title, potentially one focusing on Fangus Klot, which was to release on the original Xbox but was cancelled in 2005.
“Over the last year and a half, I’ve designed Fangus extensively. And I would like to be able to move into Fangus soon as a new IP in Oddworld.”
We could also see an HD remake of Abe’s Exoddus and future expansion packs for both Exoddus and New ‘N’ Tasty. There are also chances the series could come to the Xbox One, but it’s still unlikely as of now. What are your thoughts on Fangus making a comeback? Let us know in the comments.
