Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter recently commented at a panel during SXSW Interactive that the PS4 will most likely sell 85-95 million units in its lifetime. He also believes the device will be available for $599 (or less), which will finally be revealed at E3 2013.
He also mentions that the Next Xbox will sell for the same amount and predicted that Nintendo’s Wii U will sell roughly 30-50 million units in its lifetime.
It’s hard to say right now, especially when you consider that the PS3 shipped 76 million after several terrible starts, a long waiting period for exclusives and many more problems.
However, considering the length of this generation, it’s not stretch to say the enxt won’t be even longer, making those figures a reality. As for the Wii U, it’s simply too early to tell what the end numbers could be. As always time will help us on that front.
