Persona 5 Royal Is 100 Hours Long, As Per Famitsu

Famitsu's rated the JRPG lower than the original Persona 5.

Persona 5 Royal launches for the PS4 in Japan just a week from now, and ahead of its release, the game’s first review has come in, courtesy of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. With three scores of 9/10 and one of 10/10, the game’s collective rating from the magazine is 37/40, which is, interestingly enough, lower than original Persona 5 (which received a 39/40- it’s worth noting that Famitsu rated Persona 4 Golden higher than the base Persona 4).

The review also contains some interesting impressions and details on the JRPG (via Persona Central). The most interesting detail is that its 20 hours longer than Persona 5 – which wasn’t a short game by any stretch of the imagination – with total play time coming up to 100 hours. The review also praises the game’s sizeable new content, improvements to existing content, an improved combat system, and quality of life changes, while also mentioning that new dialogue with older characters means that you won’t want to skip these interactions even if you played the original game.

Persona 5 Royal releases for the PS4 in Japan on October 31. Those of us in the west will have to wait till Spring 2020 to get our hands on the game.
