In a surprise announcement, Nintendo announced that Pikmin 3 Deluxe would be coming to the Switch in October. Given the additional content and potential for improved visuals, this sounded like good news. However, it seems to have come at price for those looking to purchase it on Wii U since that version can’t be purchased on the Nintendo eShop.
Though the Wii U version is still listed on the website – with the option to download a demo – there’s no price or means of purchasing it. Such a move isn’t too surprising though. The company removed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U when the Switch version was announced.
The Wii U isn’t a thriving system by any means but why that version needs to be removed at all is unclear. Perhaps to avoid confusion for those seeking to buy the new version? Regardless, Pikmin 3 Deluxe releases on October 30th for the Switch. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
