Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Remakes Coming to Switch This Year – Rumour

Traditional remakes for Gen 4 of Pokemon are allegedly coming in 2021.

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of Pokemon, and it seems Nintendo and The Pokemon Company will be celebrating that by releasing the heavily demanded remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, 15 years after the original duo released for the Nintendo DS. That’s as per a recent leak by Centro Pokemon.

As per the aforementioned leak, the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes will be releasing exclusively for the Nintendo Switch later this year, with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company planning on revealing the project as early as next month.

A recent leak by known Pokemon insider Kelios suggested that there would be a Pokemon Direct next month, on February 25th, to celebrate Pokemon Day (which is the series’ 25th anniversary), and this would certainly fall in line with that. Kelios also states on Twitter that the Diamond and Pearl remakes won’t be in the style of 2018’s Pokemon Let’s Go games, which is something that Centro Pokemon corroborates as well. Apparently, the games will be traditional Pokemon titles with proper capturing mechanics.

Additionally, Centro Pokemon also points out on Twitter that the domain diamondpearl.pokemon.com is now active. Heading to the domain gives you 403 error, which means that the domain is active, but access to its content has been blocked by the domain holder. In comparison, heading to something like, say, blackwhite.pokemon.com or rubysapphire.pokemon.com simply tells you that the site cannot be reached- since those domains don’t exist.

It’s best, as always, to take these leaks with a grain of salt for now. By the end of this year, it’ll be two years since the last mainline Pokemon release, and remakes for Diamond and Pearl have been long overdue, but as much as connecting the dots makes sense right now, it’s best to temper expectations and wait for official announcements.

Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated should we learn anything more.
