Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have finally unveiled the next set of mainline titles in the series with Pokémon Wind and Waves. Launching in 2027 globally for Nintendo Switch 2, it marks the beginning of the tenth generation, with players venturing to a new water-heavy region. Check it all out below.
Alongside forests, beaches and quaint towns, the region also seemingly offers underwater exploration with plenty of Pokémon to discover. There are three new starters as well – Browt, the Grass type; Pombon, the Fire type; and Gecqua, a Water type. Plenty of classics also return, including Pikachu, Tangela, Krabby, Wailmer, Wailord, and more.
The visuals are also noteworthy, especially with how detailed the water looks. Winds are also a big focus (if the title didn’t give it away), and you can see them naturally shifting the foliage, which seems to be more detailed this time around.
Of course, there are plenty of questions, such as that massive tower/resort spotted from the air (pictured above). You also have to wonder how it ties into the larger world in terms of location. And, most importantly, is this much water considered too much water? Time will tell, but Nintendo has plenty to reveal in the months leading up to launch.
