Take this rumour with a big grain of salt, but Wii U daily is reporting that Nintendo’s next-gen console is 50% faster than the PS3 and Xbox 360, and have also revealed some of the specs. They got this information from an “unnamed Japanese developer”. The developer was reportedly porting a PS3 game to the Wii U.
So here are the specs:
- Quad Core, 3 GHz PowerPC-based 45nm CPU, very similar to the Xbox 360 chip.
- 768 MB of DRAM “embedded” with the CPU, and shared between CPU and GPU
- Unknown, 40nm ATI-based GPU
They also say that Nintendo is working on two systems; one with 768MB RAM and another with 1GB RAM. The RAM is also embedded in the CPU, and before you go “lul wut” on us, IBM does have this technology.
And again, this is just a rumour, so the final specs could be quite different.
