Production begins on MMO television crossover Defiance

The Syfy produced MMO-come-television series Defiance has began production today, after having completed a pilot episode in the spring.

Defiance aims to transcend both television and gaming, offering an interconnected world which links between the scripted series and multiplatform MMO of the same name.

The series will consist of 12 episodes, totalling 13 hours, depicting a lush futuristic Earth, vastly altered by the arrival of several alien races. This new-fangled civilization will centre around the ‘boom-town’ of Defiance, founded upon the ruins of St. Louis, Missouri.

The series stars Grant Bowler (Nolan), Julie Benz (Amanda Rosewater), Stephanie Leonidas (Irisa), Tony Curran (Datak Tarr), Jaime Murray (Stahma Tarr), Graham Greene (Rafe McCawley), Mia Kirshner (Kenya) and Fionnula Flanagan (Nicky).

The game and television programme are a joint venture between Syfy and Trion World, with both the series and game will release simultaneously in April 2013.
