PS4 and Switch Exclusives Claim Amazon UK’s Charts For 2017

Exclusives for both platforms rule the roost.

Amazon UK has shared its charts for the highest selling video games on the website through 2017, and they are surprisingly dissonant from usual shopping trends for video games in the UK. Games like Destiny 2Call of Duty: WW2, and even FIFA 18 have lost out to strong showings by exclusive games.

The highest selling game of the year, for example, was Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, shockingly edging out the PS4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 18 respectively, at #2 and #3. #4 and #5 are Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe respectively, with Horizon taking #6 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild taking #7.

It is very important to note that with these being Amazon UK specific charts, they are not representative of the UK market as a whole- nonetheless, the extremely strong showing of exclusives on this chart indicates that the age old wisdom regarding exclusive games mattering less and less as time goes on might not hold to scrutiny anymore.
