No. What you are doing is placing something that has the hard task of competing with another company. Sega and Nintendo were hard at work trying to compete with the exact same audience, and Sega failed because while people were still interested in buying their products, they kept upgrading and dropping support for the new box that came out a year and a half earlier, so people stopped taking a chance. This is a completely different story. For Sony to fail at having the only affordable VR system. The rift and vive are out of the price range of the casual gammer, and lets be honest, so is the PSVR, but it has hit the sweet spot of the serious gamer. It cant fail............yet.

Nothings to big to fail look at Sega. I don't want Sony out of the picture, we need competition in the industry otherwise nobody will really try.
Look at the Xbox at the moment, it has more features and keeps getting better. I'm not sure if that would be the case of it was in front.

Sorry rabbit. Sony is being extremely cautious with this one. They arent selling at a loss and they are trying hard not to produce more than theyll sell, which is why they kept closing down pre orders after just a few minutes in the US. Its actually the first time Sony has ever only allowed a combined time to pre order a product in the U.S. (get this) all of 20 minutes. That encompasses the entirety of three days combined, and then nothing until launch. The failure would hurt a bit, but they arent willing to risk big bucks on this one. The PS4 has made Sony to big to fail right now, especially since investors are believing in the company again. If you cant believe me go here https://www.vg247.com/2014/11/26/sony-comes-to-senses-at-last-admits-playstation-is-going-to-save-it/

No need for war yet, and no need for it in the future either. These consoles are splitting off into different directions. You cant really call it a last ditch effort. The reason why the PS4 dominated this generation was because of Price Point, Power, and Timing, but Microsoft hit Sony pretty strong, and off guard with news it planned an extremely powerful system that no iteration of the PS4 can even come close to. Not only that, but it will split the releases of Microsofts future consoles with Sony so they wont ever try to grab for the same wallets at the same time, and the 360 showed them gamers will put up more money for more power. Essentially, Microsoft is trying to push Sony into Nintendos current state of failure where the lack of power caused its downfall. If Microsoft can demonstrate graphical fidelity far more powerful than anyone has seen before on console it will force Sony to do something the company isnt ready for, and thats to drop the PS4 generation for PS5 in a time where their making a killing. They will have to cut the generation in half, and compete in a weaker state.
