There are many factors which boost speed including processor speed, hard drive (or solid state) speed, system bus speeds, optical drive speed, and graphics processor speed. A system with 12 gigs of RAM will never need any more RAM in the the foreseeable future. I have 24 gigs of RAM and the most use I have made of it is 33% with 4 games going at once with many other running background processes. In conclusion, after a system has a certain amount of RAM, adding more benefits the system in no way.
