It may, but in the demonstration video put out by Valve, the use in Counter-Strike looked no faster than a gamepad (it looked slower than I can play with a gamepad, and I’m no gun at FPS games). I’m not saying they won’t succeed, but so far the only evidence that’s been provided, by the company making the device, reinforces my doubts rather than assuages them.

If SteamOS takes off, and a popular shooter comes to it, the fact the SteamPad will beat velocity based aiming pads will squash any doubts.

Valve can get away with people giving them the benefit of the doubt, because they’re held in such high regard in the PC world and not worried about by console-only peeps, but Sony would have been smashed. Valve may well prove me wrong, but I have my doubts about the Steam controller, and the demonstration vids I’ve seen only reinforce my concerns.
