Ready at Dawn’s maiden PS4 effort, The Order: 1886 did a whole lot of things wrong – a whole lot of them, really, I mean I could write a multi page long article about everywhere that it went wrong – but there were also other things that, by just about any objective metric, it did right. One of those things was its stunning graphics, which remain a sight to behold, and of those graphics, one thing that stands out more than anything else is the animations.
To show off how this was achieved, Senior Animator Jason Shum just released two videos that demonstrate the impressive technology at work here. The first video walks us through the mocap and keyframe animation, while the second one demonstrates how a reference shot became an ingame shot, showing us just how development on the game progressed.
Check out both the videos for yourself above.
