505 Games and Plastic Piranha have launched their newest game, Rekoil, a multiplayer arena shooter that went live on Windows PCs via Steam today for $14.99.
Rekoil is an arena shooter in the tradition of old, classical arena shooters that died out with the breakout success of Halo and Call of Duty, and it allows for mass battles supporting up to 24 players. The game, which was developed by modders, includes several, extensive modding tools to significantly increase its longevity beyond the seven modes, ten maps, and forty different weapons that the game already has.
To celebrate the release of the game as well as its modding tools, 505 Games and Plastic Piranha have launched a new map contest, inviting players to submit their new maps for the game using its mod tools. Aspiring level designers and game developers can enter the Rekoil map making competition here with full contest details available here. You’ll have until March 7 to get your submissions in.
