Retro Studios’ Next Game to be Star Tropics U?

A purported insider has the scoop.

Purported insider on NeoGAF “bh7812” has revealed some interesting info about upcoming Nintendo releases, including Retro Studios’ long-awaited Wii U title.

Described as “an old Nintendo IP that people have wanted them to do for a while, but no one thought they had the guts to do it – but they did”, it has been described as a game that will “definitely fall into that “Wooooo helllll yeah!!!” category for a vast majority I think. Trailer set to be shown at the Direct.”

And what is this supposed mega-blockbuster release? According to a post done some time ago by the same user, it’s apparently Star Tropics U.

Developed by Nintendo IRD and released in 1990 for the NES, Star Tropics was an action adventure game that takes place from an overhead perspective like Zelda. The game follows a linear storyline divided into chapters, as protagonist Mike Jones visits his uncle and goes about thwacking things in the meantime. The original game is currently available on Nintendo’s Virtual Console service.

Certainly an odd choice, but count on Retro to make it worthwhile.
